Forming out of the original Ohio University Men’s Glee Club which was founded in 1906, Singing Men of Ohio has had a presence on campus for nearly 100 years. Though disbanded from 1973 – 1988, the late Dr. Ira T. Zook reformed the men’s glee club in 1989 under the name Singing Men of Ohio – starting a long lived tradition of green jackets, brotherhood and the spirit of "Unitas per Harmonium" on Ohio University's campus.

UNITAS PER HARMONIUM.
Together, the Singing Men of Ohio is a diverse group of students on campus: composing themselves of men from nearly all majors, backgrounds and music ability. SMO believes in their student organization mantra “Unitas per Harmonium” – finding unity through harmony by promoting musicianship and brotherhood to their members and all in whom they inspire.

BROTHERS, SING ON.
Singing Men of Ohio can be found performing multiple concerts during their semesters at Ohio University as well as around the country on their annual spring break tour – always dressed in their sharp green blazers, black pants and stylized SMO ties, Singing Men of Ohio will bring great inspiration and entertainment to all of those in the audience.

'CAUSE WHEN YOU SMO, YOU SMO FOR LIFE.
Singing Men of Ohio has a set tradition of having a supportive alumni community – The Singing Men of Ohio Society of Alumni & Friends, founded in 2005. Annually, a Saturday evening Alumni concert also referred to as SMOmecoming is held right on campus. During that time, nearly 60+ alumni gather for a weekend of brotherhood of past and current members in a concert of traditional SMO standards.

Auditions are held each semester in Glidden Hall with director Dr. Daniel J. Hall – for more information and to ensure an audition time, email
